LANGKAWI BEACH HASH HOUSE HARRIERS
RUN # 379
28 December 2007
Run number 379 was the LAST for the year 2007. The next run will,
consequently, be in
the year 2008. Would you believe it, we are all a year
older!! Under clear blue skies
25 hashers turned up to sample the wares
proffered by Hares
DETACHED, SEMI-DETACHED and TUPPY LOVE. But first we had
the pleasure of welcoming a couple
of virgins, Katya and Ramon, new Langkawi
residents from
Holland. Katya, in a successful effort to look nicely turned
out, put on her new shoes.
Immediately spotted by the assembled group,
Katya?s initiation into the rituals
came when she had to drink a beer from
her right shoe, she loved it.
Hooters were issued and off we all went, down
the hill from Sri Legenda, following
a marked trail. ? Marked? needed some
interpretation. The
brief was to keep the pink ribbons on your left??.or
was
it right. Didn?t matter really ?cause for the first half mile one had no
choice?..had
to be on the right or down a drain one would go. The second
half mile was marked by flour
and then we came across a question mark ( ? )
in flour. Shall we keep that on our
left or right? No matter, a flour circle
gave us a clue but not to
which way to go as a few metres away, up one
track, there was a pink ribbon
cross nailed to a tree. Or was it a number
two (2), it could be a question
mark! Welcome relief in the form of Santas
Elves appeared in a shady glade dispensing suspicious looking
brown liquid
from a teapot. It wasn?t tea. More ribbons and more
flour, I think they were
alternated, led us
to thick undergrowth where the ribbons had dropped off
their perches. That was
welcomed because the ankle grabbing ground vines had
to be avoided therefore one could
kill two birds with one stone. Keep your
head down. Trouble was the low
slung boughs with sharp points dug easily
into unprotected heads. Ah ha,
a sign, ?Wimps right, Heroes left?. Heroes
follow red ribbon, wimps follow
yellow. Those who are colour blind now had a
problem, (as if we all hadn?t before,) I think they went straight down the
middle keeping ribbons on both
sides. The beer truck hove into view,
most
of us were back at the car park at last and still breathing.
Circle time brought three new names (SQUIDGEE SPEEDO, SORE BUM
and
CWIMSON KWOTCH), two virgins (see above),and a host of transgressors which kept the
Executioner busy. Night
fell and our esteemed GM donned a miners lamp to
wind up his torture session,
then it was off to KAKI JILAT’S (Kumars) Indian
restaurant where we
feasted royally, great job Kumar and team! The next run,
No. 380, will take place on Jan.11th
2008 and promises to be a sedate affair
without the anarchic
participation of many yachtie hashers who will be
otherwise occupied
with the RLYC Regatta. Thanks to the virgin runners who
volunteered for the Hares
job and thanks to DETACHED and SEMI-DETACHED for
offering coaching sessions. ON-ON.
